The vans packed, the kayaks are on the roof, and we can finally relax after a long day.
We started out in the early morning with some repairs on Erin’s kayak – things got a bit hectic and she got backlooped in some big surf in Newgale on the weekend.

We then did the final pieces of map sorting – a real mission with 180 a3 sheets to sort through. This combined with printing out and whole bunch of legal requirements – vhf licenses and ssr registration being the most notably useful ones for anyone planning a similar European trip.
Then it was just last minute food shopping and haircuts for myself and Alice – I was particularly sad to sacrifice my incredible hair for a shorter, more practical cut.
We’ve just finished a dry pack of the kayaks and everything fits – just about! The day finished with last minute padding as well, and we’re finally having a restaurant before the big day tomorrow.

Tomorrow we aim to leave Dungeness before 11:30, making the most of the good tide and should manage the crossing in 7 hours. Expect at least a tweet when we make it – blogging will be as and when but hopefully as often as possible, and daily tweets should not be a problem!
Thanks to everyone who’s supported us so far and let’s hope the rest goes smoothly.

BEST OF LUCK EVERYONE!
Enjoy it
